Caring for Your Leather: A Complete Guide
By Thomas Renard ยท August 28, 2025
Leather is a living material. With the right care, it will outlast you. Here is everything you need to know.
First, keep it dry. If your leather does get wet, let it air dry away from direct heat. Never use a hair dryer or radiator, which can crack the surface.
Second, condition it. Every few months, apply a thin layer of leather balm with a soft cloth. This restores the natural oils and keeps the leather supple.
Third, store it right. Keep your leather in a dust bag, away from direct sunlight, and stuff bags with tissue paper to help them hold their shape.
Finally, embrace the patina. Those marks and darkening are not damage, they are the story of your leather becoming uniquely yours.
